Today’s verse focuses specifically on suffering according to God’s will. The context of this verse from 1 Peter talks about what it looks like as Christ followers to live for God. We are to live for God by fleeing from sin and clinging to what is good. We are not promised ease and comfort as Christ followers and in fact are reminded here earlier in the chapter that there will be trials and troubles but that we are to rejoice in the sufferings because we are participants with Christ. This chapter concludes with today’s verse. We are to be obedient and perservering in suffering according to God’s will. To cling to his promises and truths, and never cease to do good. For in suffering through our faithful creator, He is glorified.

1 Peter 4:19
So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.
